One of the best things about Fall is Thanksgiving. I love this holiday because it's all about recognizing the blessings in our world and expressing our gratitude for them. It's amazing how uplifting the effects of taking time to be thankful for the people in your life and the abundance that surrounds you can be.
I also really enjoy Thanksgiving because for the past few years, its been my opportunity not only to appreciate my people but to have them gather around my table & fill their tummies! This year, I'm particularly excited to be hosting because of a special little addition to my table that has my heart bursting- a gratitude tree!
I fell in love with this idea because it literally puts gratitude at the centre of the event- the gratitude tree made from real tree branches recently salvaged from my neighbours autumn tree trimming activities is the centre piece of my table. Everyone's name card at their place setting has a ribbon for hanging and doubles as their "leaf" of gratitude on the tree; once we've sat down to eat, we'll begin our meal with writing down (at least one!) thing we grateful for.
There is something about filling your house with loved ones, the smell of the turkey roasting in the oven and the coming together of hearts, expressing what brings them light. I can't wait to share this day with the beautiful souls that will be around my table as a I count my blessings and give thanks.
